Launch of COSIA Economic Wing, 2014

A much-needed platform for interaction with noted economists, industrialists and educationists, for the cause of MSMEs.

Current Economic Challenges

‘There are many challenges before the new Modi Government of which Inflation, Fiscal Deficit, Job creation and Infra Projects will have to be tackled effectively and on priority basis’, viewed the noted Economist, Dr. Ajit Ranade at the launching ceremony of COSIA Economic Wing.

While referring to Monetary Policy of RBI, he opined that there is very little possibility in the downward rate of interest and therefore the entrepreneurs, particularly the SMEs will have to find out the other ways of cost cutting in order to be competitive in the Domestic as well as International market.

He also brought to the notice of industry sector that only major policy matters on industries will be in the purview of Central Government as number of issues, mainly local, are to be dealt by the State Governments.

At the end he also expressed the worry of huge payment of interest by the Central Government on its outstanding loans affecting the fiscal management.

Role of COSIA Economic Wing

While welcoming the audience COSIA President, Dr. M.R. Khambete drew the attention towards the unfriendly atmosphere for the entrepreneurs in the country and hoped that the New Government will take appropriate steps of reforms for the quick and sustainable growth of MSMEs.
