R.Sriniwasji, Founder Hon. Gen. Secretary of Thane Small Scale Industries Association, Shri. Damania, Ex. Joint Secretary of Thane Small Scale Industries Association, Shri. Govind Singh, Vice President of Thane Small Scale Industries Association were present. The Director of MSME Development Institute, Mumbai Shri. R. B. Gupte, Director, MSME-DI Mumbai also participated and offered his goods wishes to COSIA.
Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri. Shriniwasji Patil
“Today with a total employment more than 10 crores we have nearly 4.47 crores MSMEs in India out of which 55.44% are in rural India, producing more than 6000 quality products and contributing 8.72% in the GDP, indeed there is no substitute for MSMEs in India”, opined Shri. Shriniwasji Patil, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim.
He was addressing the distinguished audience of entrepreneurs from all over Maharashtra, on the occasion of Launching of Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Chamber of Small Industry Associations [COSIA] as Chief Guest.
While honouring few outstanding entrepreneurs for their worthy contribution in the MSME Sector and stressing the need for the economy progress, the Hon’ble Governor said that the entrepreneurship is much more than mere attitude and it is a way of life which requires great courage to defeat odd situations with alertness, astuteness and audacity. He appealed the younger generation to come forth with their own enterprises and help push our economy forward. While congratulating COSIA for its role at a National Level for the cause of MSMEs he invited COSIA to organize a conference at Sikkim of MSMEs in North East India in order to give further push to the MSME movement at North East India.
While offering the Opening Remarks President Shri. M.R. Khambete said that COSIA is not mere thought but is an oath solemnly taken for the movement and solidarity of MSMEs in India. Referring to the unfriendly atmosphere for the Trade, Commerce & Industry in India, he added, it is because of organizations like COSIA, the Entrepreneurship in MSMEs is still alive and will remain so in future also.
Further Shri. M.R. Khambete declared the Plan of Actions for the Silver Jubilee Year of COSIA which inter alia has a system of direct involvement of industry associations in the field of Skills Development. At the end, he declared the slogan for the Silver Jubilee Year of COSIA, ‘Integrating, Skills and Enterprises’ While welcoming the first batch of Rajat Members, he appealed all to unite strongly for the cause of MSMEs.
On this occasion following entrepreneurs were honoured with a Citation and Traditional Felicitation for their outstanding performance in the MSME Sector at the hands of Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri. Shriniwasji Patil

To give a further boost to the solidarity and also to make it easy even for smallest in the small to join COSIA, a special class of Rajat Members was also launched on this occasion at the hands of Shri. Shriniwasji Patil, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim. In this category any MSME will receive the Rajat Membership for 10 years just by paying Rs. 5000/- only. It is also open for the Industry Bodies and any such Industry Association will receive Rajat Membership for 10 years by paying Rs. 15000/- only.

The Hon. Gen. Secretary of COSIA Shri. P.S. Agwan welcomed the audience. Smt. Sujata Soparkar, Committee Member of COSIA presented the Letter of Honour to the Governor and thereafter Hon’ble Shri. Shriniwasji Patil was felicitated at the hands of President of COSIA, Shri. M.R. Khambete. The First Lady of Sikkim, Smt. Rajanitai Patil was felicitated at the hands of Mrs. Padmja Khambete.
Dr. Ipshita Basu Guha, Committee Member of COSIA made a Power Point Presentation on COSIA. At the end Shri. Sunil Kulkarni, the Committee Member of COSIA proposed a vote of thanks.
