“A PRACTICAL GUIDE ON GST”

      Published by COSIA and authored by Mr. Sanjay Dwivedi. “A Practical Guide to GST” had its genesis in the suggestions of the members of COSIA in general and that of Dr. M.R. Khambete – President of COSIA, in particular. The book is meant for the Entrepreneurs and their accounts and tax team due to it’s simple to understand language and attempts to bring in conceptual clarity.

It has a two-fold goal as follows:

  • To Explain the GST Law in a simple language
  • To equip the reader to link it to the text of law. The book is addressed to the person who is required to pay the tax and ensure compliance. It helps to understand and find unswers to the everyday questions which a taxpayer faces under GST regime like
  • Whether GST is leviable on a particular transaction? What kinds of transactions are taxable?
  • How much tax is payable?
  • Who is liable to pay the tax; when and how to pay?
  • What is the documentation, record keeping; and what procedures are to be implemented?



ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sanjay Dwivedi has to his credit 17 years with the Government of India, in the Department of Central Excise, Customs, and Service Tax. During this period, he has worked almost in every branch & every section of the department. In 2007, he resigned from the government service and established his own law firm ‘SRD Legal’.

He is a regular advisor to several companies with clients spread all over India. He is a practicing Advocate appearing before Tribunal and High Court. He has conducted several seminars on Central Excise and Service Tax and now has to his credit over 350 hours of training sessions in GST to the industry.

He has represented COSIA in the meeting convened by the MSME Ministry, Government of India at New Delhi to study the impact of GST. He has participated as an expert GST panelist in a High-Powered discussion “Breaking the GST Code”. This book has been authored by Sanjay Dwivedi with a view to present the complex provisions of GST law in a simple language so that it can be understood even by persons with no legal background.
