A meeting was held on 27th February, 2018 between Mr. P M Parlewar, Director, MSME-DI, Nagpur and Mr. Mayank Shukla, Chairman of Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA), Vidarbha Chapter at MSME-DI Nagpur Office. Mr. Parlewar was given a warm welcome by Mr. Mayank Shukla with floral bouquet. He was accompanied with Mr. Shekhar Patwardhan – Core Committee Member of COSIA.

Mr. Shukla said the function of COSIA is to bring the MSMEs in India under one umbrella and to address their issues effectively at National as well as state levels. It also aims at achieving ‘Ease of doing business’ for MSMEs in the true sense of the concept. To act as a vital link between MSMEs and unemployed youth by conducting skill development activities with an aim to provide skilled workforce for MSMEs. To assist in making Indian MSMEs globally competitive as well as to promote entrepreneurship among the economically weaker sections and hence countering the unemployment and poverty issues. In short, COSIA is championing the cause of MSMEs. Also to update the MSMEs about latest developments in various relevant fields, COSIA organizes seminars and workshops.

Mr. Parlewar explained in brief about the various schemes of Ministry of MSME, and said, MSME-DI, Nagpur is implementing various schemes of Government of India for the benefit of prospective and existing entrepreneurs. He said, ‘MSME DI is promoting Government policies and schemes like Udyog Aadhaar, MUDRA, Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme innovation facilitation, Cluster Development Scheme etc.’ Mr. Parlewar explained that Ministry of Commerce has reserved 10% land in each SEZ for MSME sector which will have significant impact on boosting export through SEZs from MSME sector. He also said that MSME-DI has been assigned the responsibility to establish Export Facilitation Cell.

He also spoke on SEZ scheme where he explained the benefits of the scheme to MSEs and also about the Cluster Scheme of Ministry which will enable MSMEs to get multiple benefits. Mr. Parlewar also said that MSME-DI has been assigned the responsibility to establish Export Facilitation Cell (EFC) in each MSME-DI all over country with single window facility. EFC will provide handholding support to Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs) to establish unit and run it in SEZ by hiring consultants for this purpose which involves high cost and is not affordable to small scale enterprises.

It was decided that MSME-DI, Nagpur and COSIA, Vidarbha Chapter will work jointly in lean manufacturing, in setting up of mini clusters in SEZ and also in skill development. Mr. Parlewar assured all help and assistance from MSME-DI for the growth and development of industries in Vidarbha Region.
