Training Sessions on First Aid, Industrial & Fire Safety

A comprehensive training program on First Aid, Occupational Health, and Fire Safety was organized by the Chamber of Small Industry Association (COSIA) and the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) on 4th March, 2024, with support from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Thane, and Fortis Hospital. This event, aligned with the National Safety Day/Week, served as a pivotal platform to advocate for industrial safety and instill a culture of well-being in workplaces.

The seminar, titled “Training Programme on First-Aid & Occupational Health and Fire Safety,” was strategically designed to equip employees and workers across various industries with essential safety and health management techniques. The session was attended by approximately 50 participants from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Expert Trainers:

Dr. Manjeet Singh Arora, Corporate Trainer in Occupational Health and Consultant in General Medicine at Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai. Dr. Arora delivered insightful sessions on first aid practices and workplace safety. His engaging approach included live demonstrations, allowing participants to actively participate and gain hands-on experience in crucial life-saving techniques.

Mr. Anupam Das, Fire Engineer from EAST CORP, enriched the seminar with his expertise in fire safety. Mr. Das delivered a comprehensive presentation on fire hazards and industrial life safety measures. He conducted practical demonstrations on the proper usage of fire extinguishers, empowering attendees with essential fire safety skills.

The seminar commenced with opening remarks and a warm welcome by Mrs. Sujata Soparkar, President of TSSIA, stressing on the significance of prioritizing health and safety in industrial settings. This was followed by an address from Mr. Avinash Madavi, Deputy Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Maharashtra, highlighting the state’s commitment to promoting safety leadership.

Dr. Manjeet Singh Arora’s session on first aid and workplace safety was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in the practical demonstrations. The training emphasized the importance of quick and effective response to workplace injuries and emergencies.

Mr. Anupam Das’s presentation on fire safety resonated strongly with the audience, providing valuable insights into fire prevention strategies and emergency preparedness. His live demonstration of fire extinguisher usage equipped participants with essential firefighting skills.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ninad Jaywant, Honorary General Secretary of COSIA, expressing gratitude to the trainers and participants for their commitment to enhancing industrial safety.

This impactful seminar was also replicated on 27th March, 2024, at a different venue, jointly organized by COSIA and the CKP Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), focusing specifically on first aid and industrial safety training facilitated by Dr. Manjeet Singh Arora.

Overall, these initiatives emphasized on a collective effort to foster a safety-centric culture within industrial sectors, aligning with the theme of “Focus on Safety Leadership for ESG Excellence” as advocated by the National Safety Day/Week 2024.
