COSIA Advocates for the Implementation of MIDC Services under the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015

In a continued effort to improve ease of doing business (EoDB) and to streamline the industrial processes in Maharashtra, Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) has actively engaged with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) on an important issue that affects all businesses operating within MIDC Industrial Areas in the state.

In June 2024, Mr. Sandeep Parikh – President of COSIA attended a crucial meeting chaired by Mr. Anil Bhandari, Joint CEO of MIDC, to discuss the integration of all MIDC services under the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015. This initiative is being implemented under the directives of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, aimed at improving the accessibility and efficiency of public services for industries.

The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act mandates that certain public services be provided to citizens within defined time frames. COSIA has been a strong advocate for the inclusion of MIDC services under this Act to ensure transparency, reduce delays, and enhance the ease of doing business for industries in the state.

At the meeting in June 2024, MIDC officials had assured the industry representatives that the process of adding all relevant MIDC services under the Act would be completed within a month. However, despite this assurance, no further developments have occurred, which has raised concerns among the industrial community.

In response, COSIA has formally written to Mr. P. Velrasu, the CEO of MIDC, requesting an update on the status of this crucial initiative. In the letter, COSIA emphasized the need for prompt action and stressed that the successful implementation of this process is vital for achieving the state’s compliance with the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) requirements as outlined by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

COSIA is committed to pursuing this matter to ensure that Industries in MIDC areas have access to timely and efficient services from MIDC, thus contributing to a more business-friendly environment in the state.
