In a significant step towards promoting skill development and self-employment in rural Maharashtra, the Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) has proudly inaugurated its first COSIA Kaushalya Vikas Yojana (COSIA KVY) Center in the Lote-Parshuram industrial area, located in Khed Taluka of Ratnagiri District. This milestone marks COSIA’s debut in establishing a dedicated skill development center in the Konkan region, with many more to follow.
The first batch of the ‘Bakery Course’ at this center commenced on 6th June 2025 with an enthusiastic group of 25 women trainees. These participants belong to the economically weaker sections of society and are being equipped with hands-on skills that can pave the way for self-employment and sustainable livelihoods. The training is being imparted in a professional and supportive environment, tailored to help these women turn their learning into income-generating ventures.
Following the successful launch of the bakery course, a Tailoring Course is also scheduled to begin soon, expanding the range of opportunities available to aspiring women entrepreneurs in the region.
This initiative stands as a testament to COSIA’s commitment to empowering women through skill development and fostering grassroots entrepreneurship in underserved regions. The center not only serves as a training hub but also as a symbol of hope, opportunity, and transformation for the local community.

CA Nandan Khambete continues to actively oversee the operations and development of the center, ensuring that it meets its objectives and delivers impactful results.
COSIA is now actively working on replicating this model by establishing more KVY Centers across different parts of Ratnagiri District, thereby expanding its outreach and deepening its impact in the region.
