The Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) participated in the Trade Interaction Meeting with the Hon’ble Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), organised by the CGST Mumbai Zone on 23 October 2026 at MCA the Lounge, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
The meeting provided a platform for constructive interaction between the GST Department and representatives of trade and industry to discuss the recommendations of the 57th GST Council Meeting, ease of doing business and measures to simplify GST compliance.
COSIA was represented by Mr. Nandan Khambete, Hon. Treasurer, COSIA, who presented the Chamber’s views and highlighted practical difficulties faced by trade and industry, particularly Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). A detailed representation was also submitted to the Hon’ble Chairman, CBIC Mr. Vivek Chaturvedi and CBIC Member (GST) Mr. Sanjay Mangal for consideration.
The key issues raised by COSIA included the early implementation of the 57th GST Council recommendations, the need for a transition facility under the Invoice Management System (IMS) to safeguard eligible Input Tax Credit (ITC), enabling newly incorporated entities to voluntarily opt for e-invoicing, and providing clarity and relief in cases involving delayed e-invoice reporting due to genuine logistical reasons, particularly where goods are in transit.
COSIA emphasised the importance of timely clarifications, practical compliance mechanisms and a facilitative approach to GST administration to minimise avoidable difficulties for businesses and provide greater certainty to taxpayers.
Through this interaction, COSIA reiterated its commitment to representing the concerns of MSMEs and engaging constructively with the Government and tax authorities to promote a simpler, transparent and business-friendly GST framework.
