Founder’s VISION
In 1990, following an incident in New Delhi, Dr. Madhusudan Khambete was inspired to establish COSIA as a premier body representing Small-Scale Industries (SSIs). Driven by the need for a stronger voice in the corridors of power in New Delhi, Dr. Khambete spearheaded the unification of various SSI associations from across India, creating a National Federation of SSI Associations. COSIA emerged from this necessity with a clear purpose: to advocate for and support not only small enterprises but also the smallest ones.
Today, these enterprises are categorized as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Under Dr. Khambete’s leadership, COSIA has focused on addressing the challenges faced by MSMEs – issues that may seem minor to large corporations but are critical for the survival of micro and small businesses. Recognizing the vital role MSMEs play in the nation’s economic growth, Dr. Khambete committed to overcoming the obstacles encountered by these enterprises. COSIA’s policies are thus shaped with the interests and well-being of India’s MSMEs at their core.
