Celebration of World Standards Day 2024

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office-II, in collaboration with COSIA and the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA), proudly hosted a celebratory event for World Standard Day 2024 on 9th October, 2024 at Tip Top Plaza, Thane. The event brought together industry leaders, MSMEs, and experts to discuss the importance of standards in enhancing quality and safety across various sectors.

The program commenced with an inauguration and a warm welcome to the attendees. Mrs. Sujata Soparkar, President of TSSIA, and Mr. Vijay Joshi, Vice President of COSIA, represented their organizations, emphasizing the vital role of standards in driving growth and innovation within the industry.

Following the welcome address, a special message was delivered to mark World Standards Day, highlighting the significance of global standardization in fostering international trade and consumer safety.

The event featured a series of insightful technical sessions:

  1. Quality Management System: Led by Mr. Alok Singh, Scientist-E & Director of BIS, this session explored best practices in implementing effective quality management systems that comply with national standards.
  2. Hallmarking: Mr. Avinash Babu, Scientist-C & Deputy Director of BIS, presented on the importance of hallmarking, emphasizing how it ensures product authenticity and consumer trust.
  3. BIS Activities: Mr. Mahendra Singh, Scientist-D & Joint Director of BIS, discussed various initiatives undertaken by BIS to promote standardization and support MSMEs in adhering to quality benchmarks.

The sessions concluded with an engaging experience-sharing segment, where participants exchanged insights and best practices. The event successfully fostered dialogue among MSMEs, reinforcing their commitment to quality and compliance with established standards.

World Standard Day 2024 was a significant milestone, promoting awareness about the importance of standards in enhancing product quality and safety, ultimately contributing to the growth of industries and the economy at large.
