On 4th February, 2025, the Thane Central Jail witnessed a momentous event with the inauguration of the Bedside Care Giver Course, aimed at equipping inmates with essential care giving skills. This initiative is a collaboration between the Chamber of Small Industry Association (COSIA), Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA), Thane Central Jail, and Trascender Resources Pvt Ltd, under the framework of COSIA’s Kaushalya Vikas Yojana and Trascender’s Parivartan Program.
The course, which spans 100 hours, is designed to impart valuable skills in bedside care giving, offering inmates an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities and explore future careers in the healthcare sector. With 23 inmates enrolled, this training is not only intended to provide immediate benefits but also aims to open doors to meaningful career prospects and personal growth once they re-enter society. By acquiring such skills, the participants will be better equipped to secure employment and build a stable, independent future post-incarceration.
During the ceremony, Smt. Maya Waingankar, a TSSIA EC Member, emphasized the transformative impact of the COSIA KVY initiative. She highlighted the significance of this course in providing incarcerated women with the tools for a better future, underlining its potential to change lives through skill development and create opportunities beyond their time in prison.
Mr. Sameer Joshi, Managing Director of Trascender Resources Pvt Ltd, provided an insightful introduction to the course, emphasizing the importance of bedside care-giving in the healthcare industry. He shared the objectives of the training, focusing on the hands-on learning approach that would enable participants to develop a skill set highly sought after in the care-giving sector, which would be valuable for them as they transition back into society.
The ceremony also introduced Ms. Shamal Ingale, the course faculty, whose expertise and dedication will guide the inmates throughout their training. Also present at the event were Smt. Anjum Qazi, TSSIA EC Member, and Ms. Aarti Rai, COSIA KVY Admin. The event concluded with a strong sense of optimism for the positive impact the program would have on the participants’ future endeavors, both during and after their incarceration.
This collaboration marks an important step toward providing incarcerated individuals with the means to reintegrate into society with valuable, marketable skills, contributing to their rehabilitation and personal growth long after they have been released.
