The Empowered Committee on MSMEs for Maharashtra convened its quarterly meeting on 9th May, 2025, at the Reserve Bank of India’s Mumbai Regional Office. The meeting, chaired by the Regional Director, Maharashtra – RBI, brought together representatives from leading banks, SIDBI, CGTMSE, NABARD, government departments, and prominent industry bodies.
Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) was represented by CA Nandan Khambete, Member of the Central Managing Committee, who actively participated in the deliberations. Key agenda items included the flow of credit to the MSME sector, performance on MUDRA and CGTMSE schemes, digital financial inclusion, collateral-free lending, structured monitoring mechanisms, and resolution of stressed MSME accounts.
COSIA highlighted its ongoing efforts in promoting responsible borrowing and timely loan repayment through seminars and awareness campaigns, reaching over 500 industry participants between January and March 2025. Additionally, COSIA committed to submitting further data regarding anomalies in interest rates charged on CGTMSE-backed loans.
The meeting also reviewed the performance of banks in financing new and existing MSMEs, adoption of digital platforms such as GeM and ONDC, and the status of Udyam Registration Certificates. Concerns over rising NPAs in the MUDRA Shishu category and pending revival cases were discussed in detail, with banks urged to expedite resolutions and enhance customer outreach.
