On 11th October, 2024, the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) and Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) proudly unveiled a bust of their esteemed founder, Dr. Appasaheb Khambete, at TSSIA House in Thane. The ceremony, graced by the presence of the Chief Guest of the event Mr. Eknath Shinde, Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was a poignant tribute to Dr. Khambete’s unwavering dedication to the growth and welfare of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.
After the unveiling ceremony, Mrs. Sujata Soparkar, President of TSSIA, shared important issues concerning the MSME sector at the state level, advocating for enhanced support and resources. Following her address, Mr. Sandeep Parikh, President of COSIA, outlined specific concerns that require the state government’s intervention with the Central Government, including the critical matter of GST on lease assignments for SIDC plots.
In his address, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for industrial growth and job creation. He lauded Dr. Khambete’s remarkable contributions to the MSME sector and expressed a resolute dedication to enhancing the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in Maharashtra.
The unveiling ceremony brought together a diverse group of attendees, including committee members of TSSIA and COSIA, family members of Dr. Khambete, MSME representatives, and office bearers from various industry associations. Honorable MP of Thane, Mr. Naresh Mhaske, was also in attendance, emphasizing the importance of this event within the local business community.
The bust was commissioned by Mr. Keshav Kulkarni, a longtime member of TSSIA, symbolizing the enduring impact of Dr. Khambete’s vision and efforts. As we celebrate this significant milestone, we honor not only Dr. Khambete’s legacy but also the ongoing mission to uplift and support the MSME sector in India.
