On 18th November 2024, to commemorate the 2nd death anniversary of Founder of TSSIA & COSIA Late Dr. Appasaheb Khambete, TSSIA and COSIA organized a Memorial Lecture focusing on “Safety Awareness and its Importance in the MSME Sector”. The program aimed to honor Dr. Khambete’s contributions and inspire businesses to adopt best practices in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and behavior-based safety (BBS).
Mr. Eknath Sonawane, Executive Secretary of COSIA, inaugurated the event with a warm welcome and an inspiring opening address. He reflected on Dr. Khambete’s remarkable leadership, which continues to inspire the MSME sector, and emphasized the importance of fostering a safe and sustainable industrial environment.
CA Nandan Khambete, Central Managing Committee Member of COSIA & EC Member of TSSIA, introduced the speaker, Mr. Sadanand Vijay Mandalkar, founder of M/s. Alpha Safety & Environment Solutions, lauding his expertise in industrial safety and commitment to workplace well-being.
Presentation on Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS):
Mr. Mandalkar delivered an insightful and engaging presentation, covering key aspects of BBS and its relevance in ensuring workplace safety. The points covered were:
- Introduction to BBS and its principles.
- Explanation of the Activators, Behaviors, and Consequences (ABC) Model.
- Identifying at-risk behaviors and addressing unsafe acts.
- Categorization and documentation using BBS observation forms.
- Real-world case studies and strategies for data compilation and action planning.
The presentation emphasised the practical benefits of BBS in reducing workplace hazards and fostering a safety-oriented culture.
The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Vijay Joshi, Vice President of COSIA. He expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Mandalkar for his enlightening presentation, the participants for their active engagement.
