COSIA Participates in Interaction with 16th Finance Commission

The Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) had the privilege of participating in an important interaction with the Hon’ble Members of the Sixteenth Finance Commission during their visit to Maharashtra on 8th May 2025 in Mumbai. COSIA was among a select group of industry associations invited to represent the interests and concerns of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the state.

In the course of the interaction, COSIA raised several critical issues affecting the growth and sustainability of industries in Maharashtra. Key topics included challenges in land acquisition, difficulties in accessing timely and adequate capital, shortage of skilled manpower, and gaps in skill development initiatives. COSIA also brought attention to regulatory hurdles, taxation-related complications, and the need for a more transparent and efficient implementation of government assistance schemes tailored for MSMEs.

The delegation from COSIA, represented by CA Nandan Khambete, a member of the COSIA Central Managing Committee, offered constructive recommendations to enhance the ease of doing business, strengthen the financial ecosystem supporting MSMEs, and streamline bureaucratic procedures that often delay industrial progress. Emphasis was placed on creating a more supportive policy environment that fosters innovation, competitiveness, and inclusive growth across industrial clusters.

COSIA expresses its sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Finance Commission for this valuable opportunity to share ground-level insights and policy suggestions. We look forward to continued dialogue and collaborative efforts that will empower MSMEs and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic development.
